Welcome to the first Post on Benedetto Archives! This site will be a work in progress…forever! I’m going through over 40 years of shop images, Players, and graphics (that’s a lot of space in the garage). I’ll be adding more and more (serial number information, guitar details, etc) as soon as I figure out how to do it!
I remember having to explain what an Archtop was. After getting married, people would ask ‘what does your husband do?’ Oh, he makes archtop guitars… ‘What is an archtop?’ And then I would explain how the archtop is like a big violin and was created to project from a big band… most guitar people know about them these days but I remember when Guitar Player magazine (who did an article on Bob in 1984) said he was building a guitar that saw its heyday in the ’50s... alot changed in the late ’80s. More on that to come.
As you can see, I have a few decades to cover so please check in often.
p.s. this photo is from July 1975, a month after we were married. And that’s Bob’s third guitar. 🙂
